Irish Cancer Society visits Mercury to receive donation cheque for World Cancer Day
Mercury marked World Cancer Day 2020 by welcoming the Irish Cancer Society to our Head Office for a donation cheque presentation.
We raised €41, 287.24 as part of our ‘Be Brave – Stand Up to Cancer’ campaign in 2019.
On Monday, Karina Toolan of the Irish Cancer Society was presented with a ceremonial donation cheque by two members of our EMT, Group Finance Director Ronan Lynch and Head of Risk and Corporate Development Patrick Hickey-Dwyer.
Karina Toolan said: “On behalf of everyone at the Irish Cancer Society, I’d like to say a huge thanks to all of the staff at Mercury Engineering, who as part of their ‘Be Brave – Stand Up to Cancer’ campaign have raised over €41, 000 to support people affected by cancer throughout Ireland.
“These incredible funds will go towards our night nursing service, our volunteering driving service, our cancer nurse line and will also fund vital cancer research.”
Tuesday February 4th marks the 20th anniversary of World Cancer Day.
According to the European Commission, every year 1.3 million people die from cancer and 3.5 million new cases are diagnosed across the European Union.
