Temporary works are elements of a construction project that are needed to enable the completion of permanent works or structures. Temporary works are usually removed after use, although can sometimes by incorporated into the design of permanent works.

Michael O’Connor, Group EHS Director said:

“So far, this temporary works guidance has been well received within the industry and with the inclusion of a practical set of FAQs to further explain categorisation and the management of temporary works, it is a major addition to the construction industry design and construction toolbox.

“The guidance has been formed with the aim of being practical, easy to understand, easy to communicate and comply with and the workgroup are satisfied this has been achieved.”

Competence levels and defined roles and responsibilities are also described in detail as is the temporary works process”.
