Mercury delivers 24MW LONDON9 Data Centre for client VIRTUS
Mercury is delighted to announce that we have completed the delivery of VIRTUS LONDON9, our client’s new 24MW data centre.
Our team delivered the full design from stage 3 of this data centre, which occupies a total of 7,467 square metres of technical space. As the prime contractor on this project, Mercury was responsible for the building and fit out and completed the installation of external plant gantries, the internal CSA & MEP fitout, including security facilities, offices and client front of house.
The facility is designed to deliver highly efficient data centre space and is powered by 100% renewable energy – from only wind, solar or tidal sources.
As part of this project Mercury carried out infrastructure works to allow for High-Performance Computing (HPC) liquid cooled multi-processors in this data centre. This represents a first-of-kind installation of this system within the United Kingdom.
We worked closely with our client VIRTUS throughout this handover, which spanned across three phases and six sections from December 2019 to October 2021. The phasing schedule for this project accompanied a fast-moving programme, with staff and supply-chain numbers peaking at 430 personnel on site.
Speaking about the completion of this project, Mercury Project Manager, Josh Ford said: “We are delighted to successfully handover this project to our client VIRTUS. This was an incredible achievement from our people, from our pre-construction and support functions right the way through to our onsite team. Despite challenges faced such as the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit the commitment of our people resulted in this successful project.”
