Mercury host women’s Christmas networking event as part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion

We recently hosted a Christmas networking morning at Mercury’s dedicated Apprentice Development Centre in Ballycoolin, Dublin, which was open to all our female employees.

The event was a great opportunity for our female employees to connect and network, and to celebrate and reflect on their achievements over the past year. A diverse range of employees were in attendance, including people from across our construction projects, as well as a number of our head office staff.

Joanne Cluxton, Group HR Director, welcomed the group at the beginning of this event, which was followed by an address from Eoin Vaughan, CEO, who highlighted the progress Mercury has made towards creating a more inclusive work environment.

Women make up 11% of Mercury’s workforce (excluding trades), while the industry average is just 6.5%. Over 16% of employees based on our projects are women. On our 2022 graduate programme, 27% of the intake were women, a figure up 35% on 2021, and our goal for the coming year is to improve even further.

We were delighted to welcome author and transformation coach Trisha Lewis, of ‘Trisha’s Transformations’, as our special guest speaker. All in attendance were inspired by her insights and advice.

This event was part of our ongoing commitment to promoting women’s achievements by increasing the visibility of women in construction. While women in this industry may be fewer in numbers when compared to males overall, their dynamic work and leadership makes a significant difference to the high-level projects that we deliver throughout Europe. We have seen significant progress this year and remain committed to pushing forward and making further positive changes in 2023.
