Delivering colocation excellence: Mercury supports Digital Realty’s development of 40MW FRA33
Mercury is proud to be a key partner in the development of Digital Realty’s state-of-the-art FRA33 data centre in Hattersheim, near Frankfurt, Germany.
Situated within our client’s expansive Hattersheim Campus (Digital Park Hattersheim), this cutting-edge facility is poised to deliver an impressive 40MWs of IT capacity, encompassing 16,000 square metres of world-class white space.
As Europe’s most experienced colocation data centre provider, Mercury consistently rises to meet the challenges of the ever-growing market, delivering on our clients’ requirements and commitments. Our role in the development of FRA33 is comprehensive, and encompasses a variety of electrical, mechanical and CSA services.
This large-scale project is divided into four phases, with separate technical infrastructure packages being handed over in each stage. As the prime contractor, we are leading the initial phase of the infrastructure package, delivering the first 10MWs of power to this cutting-edge facility by Q3 2023. The remaining stages will be completed over the subsequent period, and the facility is scheduled to go live in Q4 2026.
Recently, the progress of the project was celebrated with representatives from Digital Realty, Hattersheim council, and key stakeholders present. The event marked the completion of the building’s shell and core and was attended by Brian Collins, Business Unit Lead for Mercury’s Data Centres & Building Services Division (DCBS), Volker Ludwig, SVP & Managing Director, DACH Digital Realty, Michael Cyriax, District Administrator, and Klaus Schindling, Mayor of the City of Hattersheim.
This latest collaboration between Mercury and Digital Realty exemplifies our shared dedication to delivering cutting-edge data centre solutions that meet the growing demands of the digital world. By combining our expertise and commitment to excellence, we are setting new standards in the industry, ensuring that our clients have access to state-of-the-art facilities that meet their evolving needs.
This project is not only focused on delivering a world-class data centre, but also prioritizes sustainability and energy efficiency. Following the international LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification procedure, the construction of FRA33 adheres to rigorous standards for energy-saving practices and resource conservation. Digital Realty is taking it a step further by incorporating infrastructure that will allow the future utilization of waste heat. This forward-thinking approach will enable the facility in future to contribute to local and district heating networks, making efficient use of resources and reducing environmental impact. The integration of sustainable practices and innovative solutions underscores the commitment of Mercury and Digital Realty to create a data centre that sets new standards in both technology and environmental responsibility.
