Mercury delivers 19MW PAR9 data centre, marking a significant milestone in Digital Realty’s Paris Digital Park
Mercury is pleased to announce the handover of Digital Realty’s PAR9 data centre, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of our client’s Paris Digital Park.
As the general contractor for this project, Mercury’s Data Centres & Building Services team achieved the delivery of this 19.2MW facility across four distinct phases. The initial phase focused on the construction of the shell, façade, and roof of PAR9, forming the second quadrant of the circular data centre campus. This phase also involved the installation and delivery of CSA works and site wide utilities and services infrastructure.
The scope of works for the fitout stage encompassed the design, installation, and delivery of CSA works and MEP installations throughout the facility. Fitout was divided into three phases, focusing on the delivery of 12 data halls. Mercury completed all infrastructure works associated with the data halls, including architectural, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and commissioning.
The data halls are located throughout the building, and the plant and equipment serving the data halls are located on all levels and at roof level on a steel gantry. Mercury utilised off-site assembly as part of the works including fully modularised packaged plant rooms and a water treatment room. PAR9 is the second data centre to be completed on this site, following Mercury’s delivery of PAR8 in 2022.
Digital Realty’s Paris Digital Park, comprising PAR8, PAR9, PAR10, and PAR11, is expected to offer a total whitespace of 39,000 square metres, providing customers with access to an impressive approximately 76MWs of IT power. Each data centre within the park plans to feature advanced capabilities, including reliable power supply, efficient cooling, advanced alarm systems, and high-density power racks with innovative free cooling technology. Additionally, the facility aims to ensure seamless connectivity with dual fibre connections, offering flexible options for high-speed data transmission.
Upon completion of this campus, Paris Digital Park is expected to be at the forefront of innovative and sustainable infrastructure, comprising four state-of-the-art facilities. In line with Digital Realty’s sustainable vision, all four data centres are expected to be powered by 100% renewable energy and are certified to ISO 50001.
As part of this project, Mercury has constructed a 7,500m2 public park that is available for use to the local inhabitants of La Courneuve. As an industry leader, we are determined to make a positive contribution to all the communities in which we operate – to our employees, to our business partners and to society in general.
“We take immense pride in the handover of PAR9 to our valued client, Digital Realty,” says Tim Reid, Business Unit Lead for Mercury’s Data Centre Building Services Division. “This accomplishment not only underscores our unwavering commitment to excellence in the data centre industry but also played a pivotal role in securing additional contracts for the same campus. The synergy between the Mercury and Digital Realty project teams was truly invigorating throughout the completion of PAR9.”
