Work Safe, Home Safe: Mercury teams across Europe kick off Safety Week 2024

This October, Mercury’s teams across Europe are participating in the annual CIF Construction Safety Week, running from the 14th to the 25th. As the European leader in construction solutions, safety is at the cornerstone of our operations, training, and processes. This year’s campaign will focus on the theme for European Safety Week: Safety and Healthy Work in the Digital Age including critical areas such as Health & Wellbeing (Heart Health & CPR), Electrical Hazards & COHE, Ground Disturbance & Excavations, Mobile Plant & Equipment, Lifting & Slinging, Working at Heights, and Temporary Works.

As part of this year’s campaign, projects across Mercury will be hosting daily toolbox talks on the critical themes listed above, as well as taking part in CPR awareness training, dynamic risk assessments, the Mercury pause programme, Nonstandard high-risk activities training, practical on-site demonstrations, incident lunch and learns, employee recognition and wellbeing webinars. This year’s campaign will be delivered by our project teams across 14 countries and more than 7000+ Staff & Supply Chain will participate along with several external partners hosting sessions.

We continue to influence best safety practices within our industry, with the safety mindset firmly fixed in every team across Mercury as our anchor value. We are excited to demonstrate further our industry-leading safety practices throughout October, but also beyond as every month is safety month for us.

Michael O’Connor, QEHS Director commented, “At Mercury, safety is more than just a priority – it’s a fundamental value that guides everything we do. This year, we are reinforcing our commitment to keeping every person on our projects safe. Whether it’s through our toolbox talks, hands-on demonstrations, or wellbeing initiatives, we are focused on tackling risks ranging from heart health to electrical hazards and working at heights. Our entire team, including our supply chain partners, are united in our goal to ensure everyone gets home safe every day as we launch European Safety Week”.
