Scope of the Role:

The Electrical Authorised Person is the lead electrical position within the project. They are accountable for managing and implementation of Mercury’s electrical safety rules across a portfolio of data centres ensuring that a safe system of work is always adhered to.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • The Authorised Person is responsible for implementing, administering, monitoring and auditing the application of Mercury’s (or the contract specific) Electrical Safety Rules
  • Authorised Persons will provide the necessary cover for all systems and installations for which the company has control of the electrical danger.
  • Take responsibility for the supervision and leadership of the prospective systems carrying out switching operations on the HV/LV system.
  • Maintain a register of all training records, plus any other relevant information regarding the authorisation in an ongoing basis
  • Ensure that relevant information in circulated on Operational Restrictions and Dangerous Occurrences.
  • Ensure that a system is in place to investigate any equipment subject to an Operational Restriction.
  • Investigate all Dangerous Occurrences and incidents involving electrical equipment, systems and installations for which the Authorising Engineer is responsible.
  • Agree any local deviation that may be necessary for their application to a particular item of equipment, or location
  • Ensuring that all Accidents, Incidents or Dangerous Occurrence associated with work on Electrical Distribution Systems, are immediately notified to the Mercury Designated Person
  • Implements and is accountable for a management system that ensures all switching schedules have been reviewed and approved for use by the relevant technical authority
  • The day-to-day management of the maintenance and operation of the Technical Services Electrical engineering on the portfolio of data centres under management
  • Implementing and Managing Maintenance policies for the Technical Services Department
  • Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
  • Assistance with the close out of all project items including Final Account, O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re-locations, Project Plan – all with the support of the site project manager
  • Drive the Mercury Engineering culture of safety and quality through the project.
  • Provide the safety and quality leadership required on all Mercury projects.
  • Ensure all Subcontractor documentation including safety documentation is maintained up to date and filed for future reference.
  • All other duties associated with this role.

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • A trade background and 10 - 15 years previous experience managing large installation projects and sub-contractors.
  • Proven record of supervising and managing large installation projects
  • In depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Quality compliance
  • Experienced in design and build
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Mechanical systems
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well within strict deadlines
  • Ability to drive a large-scale project
