Scope of the Role:

As a senior buyer, you’ll manage the procurement of materials, goods, and services for assigned Projects, ensuring that you are optimising the cost, quality, and service. You’ll drive added value through sourcing strategically, value engineering, innovation delivery and risk management. Deliver best in class performance through professional, competitive, and efficient buying processes, controls, and systems for the project(s). Mentoring and potentially leading junior procurement personnel.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Responsible for procurement to pay process from Sourcing to invoice clearance.
  • Conduct complex bid process for equipment, materials and / or services and do commercial evaluations.
  • Create Procurement Schedules with project teams and planning function.
  • Write Procurement Project Execution Plans
  • Develop procurement strategy for core commodities.
  • Secure the quality and timely delivery of goods and/or services required for assigned projects.
  • Negotiate vendor allances, rebate agreements,master service agreements.
  • Assist in the reallocation or disposal of excess materials.
  • Ensure that the Authority Matrix is followed stringently.
  • Create internal reports.
  • Expected to work with only general supervision.
  • Mentoring and potentially leading junior procurement personnel.
  • Identify new supplier sources and recommend new sourcing strategies in assigned area.
  • Co-ordinate the logistics of goods and/services required for assigned projects.
  • Conduct external reporting (Outside of Procurement Department)
  • Assist in proposals support when required.
  • Work with other buyers and Line Manager to eliminate wasteful processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Must have construction Buying experience.
  • Experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction company.
  • A third level qualification preferably in supply chain or other related discipline. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Minimum of 6 years’ work experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
  • Previous ERP experience.
  • Some travel will be required (Europe)

 

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • A third level qualification preferably in supply chain, engineering, or other related discipline. 
  • Some Technical Knowledge of the Construction Industry would be an advantage.
  • Results-driven with project management skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and resilience – being able to adjust positively to situations that involve changing tasks and/or location, shifting priorities or ambiguity.
