Scope of Role 

The HV/MV senior construction manager to oversee installations and operations of HM/MV works on projects Ireland and Europe.  This role will be based in in Ireland with travel to Europe on a regular basis.  

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Liaise with the client and establish a trusting relationship to ensure future project opportunities.
  • Manage the co-ordination of the Civil, Structural and Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical and Life Safety work packages.
  • Development and Management of Project Schedule in conjunction with Planner, Project Managers, Sub-Contractors and consulting Engineer/Architect to Mercury Engineering and Client requirements.
  • Facilitate the adherence to schedule on the project through DABs meetings and on-site actions.
  • Knowledge of package budgets. Drive good value through efficient performance and continuity of work for Supply chain.
  • Control of all day-to-day site operations within schedule
  • Ensure that Project Administrator issues weekly safety stats & project labour projections.
  • Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
  • Close out of project items including, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re-locations – all with the Support of your Project team.
  • Issue Daily Report to the Project Manager
  • Champion Mercury's Safety implementation on site and at site Safety Leadership Teams
  • Champion Mercury's Quality focus on site and implement 'Right First Time' measures.
  • Track and report at weekly client update meetings.
  • Liaise with the Commercial team to ensure contracts, purchase orders, payment certificates and change orders are issued in accordance with company policies.
  • Management of Mercury team on site and coordination of Internal resources with regard to travel etc.
  • Management of Resources, Materials and sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule. Ensure manpower levels are adequate.
  • Ensure Sub-Contractor meetings are being completed and recorded.

  • To manage and drive a large team to meet with all project requirements and deadlines
  • Producing procurement plan, drawing/design plan, construction program, s-curve and histogram.
  • Creation of installed drawings and O&M manuals.
  • Ensure processing of requisitions, generation of purchase orders and delivery to site is done in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement company procedures with the project managers.
  • Review drawings and setting out details.
  • Produce builders works drawings for services.
  • Liaise with the client regarding the permitting of all works and participate in the development of RAMS and relevant client permits.
  • All other duties associated with this role.

 

Criteria and Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering degree preferred,  with extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience 5-10 years construction/engineering experience, working on HV/MV assets.
  • HV asset management experience, ideally within distribution and/or generation, transmission, or utilities.
  • Proven record of coordinating and managing large installation projects
  • Experience in acting as a single point of contact.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Experienced in design and build.
  • Able to work under pressure and preform only evidence-based decision making.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well within strict deadlines
  • Ability to drive a large-scale project
