Mercury completes virtual site safety audit in the Netherlands
Mercury recently completed a virtual site audit for a multinational client on a Hyperscale Data Centre outside of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Mercury Project Safety Lead Lisa O’Donnell; Operations Director, Gerry O’Donnell; and Mercury’s Group Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director Michael O’Connor, along with members of Mercury’s corporate management, project-based client management and its subcontractor teams conducted the site safety audit with the client’s Global EHS Director virtually over Microsoft Teams.
This innovative method of hosting the audit ensured that the visual confirmation and assurance was provided to client team emebers who are restricted in their travel options at this time.
On this ongoing project, Mercury’s EHS standards, resources and support have remained exactly the same as they were prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and this virtual audit was conducted in line with the scheduled quarterly client audit. The virtual audit was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Mercury’s commitment to high standards of on-site safety as well as to providing a safe workplace throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mercury has adapted to the Covid-19 pandemic by carrying out a number of virtual audits and tests across our project sites in Ireland and Europe.
A project representative stated: „This was an excellent and innovative way of conducting an audit that would usually be carried out in person. Its worth noting that this project has now achieved 3,500,000 people hours without a single Lost-Time Injury (LTI) as of the 18th May 2020.
“We are delighted to support our clients compliance program via the virtual real time audit process, where the client leads the way in real time with direction on which tasks and crews to review, following an initial review of our DABS / HRA identification to decide on the specific tasks to be audited. All of this in real time from a continent away”.
„Mercury has shown that during this ‘new normal’ time in our history, we are dedicated to maintaining our first-class safety standards for our clients and staff, while continuing to deliver exceptional results. Mercury don’t see challenges, we see opportunities and embrace technological options to benefit our projects and clients.
