Mercury moves graduate programme learning online throughout pandemic
Mercury recently announced that it’s graduate programme learning would be moved to an online platform in order to continue making progress throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bronagh Matthews, HR Learning & Development Officer said, „We’re delighted to be able to continue our graduate programme activities virtually through LinkedIn Learning. We made a decision to invest in this online platform for our full workforce earlier this year before Covid-19, and it has paid off in ways we never even imagined. It’s important to us that our graduates, who are based across many different countries and projects, continue their learning path in the time frame we originally envisioned, so their career progress is not impacted by the current difficult global circumstances“.
It had originally been planned that Mercury’s graduate first-year and second-year classes would complete another week with the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and Engineers Ireland in March 2020. Due to the current restrictions of travel, movement and gathering, those session had to be cancelled. Mercury’s Learning & Development team redesigned the course in order for it to be completed from home virtually.
New equivalent learning material was assigned to all Graduate Programme students through LinkedIn Learning. Mercury’s second-year graduates are expected to graduate in September as was originally planned, and the first-years will move into their final year.
Earlier this year, Mercury was nominated for the GradIreland Graduate Employer of the year award, due to take place later this year. Read more here.
