Jo-Ann Garbutt appointed as Mercury Group Sustainability Director
Over the past twelve months, Mercury has created a responsible business plan that forms a key part of our wider Beyond50 strategy. Under the Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillar of Beyond50, our plan is titled Our Planet, Our Duty. 2021 is now the year to operationalise this plan, and with that in mind, Mercury has made an important new senior appointment.
Jo-Ann Garbutt has been working closely with Mercury’s sustainability champions and other key stakeholders to lay the groundwork for taking our sustainability ambitions to the next level and since August, Jo-Ann has fully transitioned to having a new full-time role as Group Sustainability Director.
The key focus areas include reporting on a high-level dashboard supporting the four Sustainability Duties at Mercury:
- Being an employer of choice;
- Having responsible partnerships;
- Maintaining a minimised environmental impact; and
- Supporting the wellbeing of local communities.
There is also a focus on implementing a tracking tool for our responsible waste practices, furthering awareness training and live events for employees, and setting targets and tracking outcomes for reducing our carbon footprint.
