Mercury welcomes diverse and talented cohort to Graduate Programme 2022
Mercury is delighted to welcome a cohort of 51 graduates to our 2022-2024 Graduate Programme, which commenced with a week of training last Monday.
This year’s graduate programme is incredibly diverse, with 10 different nationalities represented. Among our new cohort are 14 females, which constitutes 27% of our total intake, and our largest ever group of female graduates. Graduates are drawn from a variety of backgrounds and have taken up roles across our operations and support functions, throughout Europe.
Our graduates’ first week of training involved a series of highly engaging learning moments which incorporated several foundational aspects, including interactive exercises, aimed at helping them to succeed throughout their careers with Mercury. This training was delivered in partnership with the Irish Management Institute (IMI).
The new group were welcomed by CEO, Eoin Vaughan, and a number of other key speakers, including:
- Joanne Cluxton, Group HR Director.
- Bronagh Matthews, HR Learning & Development Specialist and Mercury’s Graduate Programme Coordinator.
- Alan Gorman, Managing Director of Mercury’s Data Centres & Building Services business unit.
- Paul Carthy, Director of Business Development.
- Sabrina Loughman, Group Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator.
- Niamh Gilmore, Group Health & Wellbeing Coordinator.
- Conor Healy, Group Risk Manager – (Former Graduate Programme member).
- Guylene Sockeng, Senior Mechanical Engineer – (Former Graduate Programme member).
- Daithi Byrne, EHS Lead – (Former Graduate Programme member).
Eoin Vaughan, CEO, spoke about how Mercury’s graduate programme is helping to shape our future leaders, and how much of our current leadership team have spent many years of their careers with Mercury, since a young age.
Eoin also highlighted an abundance of career and development opportunities available to our people, and paid tribute to the significant role that our employees and teams have played in supporting Mercury’s growth, as the company celebrates our 50th year in business this year.
Speaking last Monday, Eoin, said: „I want to take an opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our 51 talented graduates who recently joined Mercury. When we first launched the programme almost 13 years ago, we had an uptake of just 5 graduates. Since then, we have had approximately 290 graduates complete the programme, many of whom have made long-lasting careers with Mercury in key leadership positions within our management structure. 2022 marks our 50th year in business, and our exceptional people and teams have been key to our continued success.“
„It is one of our ambitions for Mercury that the business will one day be led by someone who has come through one of our many development programmes.“
„The success and evolvement of this programme and its participants reflect the ability of the business in creating leaders who envision the future of Mercury. Their progress is our responsibility. I am immensely proud of this programme which will only continue to grow alongside our business in the future.“
“Our Graduate Programme 2022 cohort are an incredibly diverse group, and it has been a pleasure working with them throughout their training week. I think they bring a wealth of talent to Mercury, and I look forward to working with them throughout the graduate programme and beyond. Throughout the 18 months of the graduate programme, and beyond that as they establish their careers with Mercury,” said Bronagh Matthews, Learning & Development Specialist and the coordinator of the Graduate Programme at Mercury.“
