Scope of the Role:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work as part of an experienced Project Controls team at Group Level across all projects, and will also work closely with the Business Units Senior Management & Commercial Teams. The Project Controls Department is integral in overseeing the project’s cost management strategy, aligning with the organisations financial requirements and ultimately contributing to the overall business success. You will be responsible for collating and analysing all commercial data associated with projects and identifying any risks or opportunities. The successful candidate will be involved with projects from the award stage through to final close out of the project. In addition to being involved in individual projects, you will also be involved in Group Commercial Reporting to the senior executive management. You will assist the Group Commercial Director & Head of Project Controls in the overall commercial management of all projects across the group but will be expected to work on your own initiative.The role is 4 days a week in our head office in Sandyford, with occasional visits to our sites across Europe. The successful candidate will be offered an excellent renumeration package and an opportunity to work in an expanding construction business with great career prospects.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Work as part of our central project controls team based in Dublin reviewing the validity of the project commercial reports.
  • Assist the project controls department lead and Business unit commercial directors in the monthly commercial reporting of projects.
  • Conduct monthly commercial and operational reviews for selected projects, working with the project teams to ensure that projects are reported monthly in line with group procedures.
  • Liaise with and support project teams with project reporting, cost control and management of project risk in line with company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure that Key stakeholders are updated on project risks and opportunities and the commercial implications associated with projects.
  • Review and comment on Margin sign off files submitted for projects. Work with the project team to ensure that figures submitted are accurate and that they are a true reflection of the commercial position on the project.
  • Consider all risks for project at Margin sign off stage and ensure the teams are aware of these risks throughout the project.
  • Identify projects that carry the greatest commercial risk each month and work with the project teams outside of the monthly review cycle time to reduce these risks.
  • Identify members of the commercial teams who require upskilling on their standard and accuracy of commercial reporting.
  • Work with the project controls teams on Group reporting monthly and yearly reporting cycle.
  • Support commercial teams on their quarterly revenue and margin forecast cycle. Work with the teams to ensure forecasts are an accurate reflection of the project’s potential outcome.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Quantity Surveyor (QS Degree) qualified and or  10 + years relevant experience in the industry
  • Experience with the use of Excel is essential
  • Experience with the use of Power BI and SAP would be beneficial but not necessary
  • Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
