Mercury completed The Royal Hospital for Sick Children and the Department of Clinical Neurosciences Project in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. The project consisted of a new Acute Children’s Hospital and the re-provision of the Department of Clinical Neurology, the Energy Centre and the associated support facilities and infrastructure for NHS Lothian.
The new Hospital is located on the existing site at the RIE at Little France, Edinburgh which was required to remain operational during the execution of the works. Once the works were complete; having paediatric care, specialist neonatal care, neurosciences along with adult and children’s emergency departments on one site reduced the need for emergency transfers between hospitals.
The New Hospital includes:
• 233 Beds
• 10 Theatres
• A Family Hotel for the families of sick children
• A new energy centre including Boilers, CHP, Generators, Oil Tanks
• A new helipad on the roof.
The gross area of the project is approximately 51000m².
